Breakfast Cereal Manufacturers Unite on Front-of-Pack Nutrition Labels

Cereal Partners, Kellogg's and PepsiCo, have joined forces with some of the UK's largest food manufacturers to align their approach to front-of-pack nutrition labelling.

A spokesperson from the Breakfast Cereal Information Service (BCIS) comments:

"As a commitment of the food and drink Industry , all our members already include comprehensive nutritional information on their packs, and several have adopted the use of Guideline Daily Amounts (GDA), which have proven effective in increasing consumer awareness of the link between diet and health. This step helps to align the way some ACFM members display them on pack."

"Breakfast cereals remain the most popular form of breakfast in the UK with 98% of households stocking cereals . In line with Government's pledge to provide better information to help consumers make healthier food choices, cereal manufacturers are ensuring nutritional information is easy to read at a glance."

Notes to Editor:
· The ACFM is the trade association of the UK's leading breakfast cereal manufacturers. Members are Cereal Partners, Dailycer, Jordans, Kellogg's, Morning Foods, PepsiCo, and Weetabix.
· All ACFM members already include comprehensive nutritional information on packs, informing consumers of the amount of energy, fat, protein, carbohydrate (including sugars), fibre and sodium (including salt) within breakfast cereals.
· Guideline Daily Amounts (GDA) enables consumers to make informed choice on balancing their diet by identifying the official recommended guideline levels for key nutrients and calories they consume each day.
